When I was a mensurating teenager, back in the 1950's, we wore belts with fasteners for holding the large Kotex pad in place.

When I married at 18, as virgin, as "good girls" were, and used a tampon and couldn't find the cord to remove it...I panicked!

We were kept so ignorant of our anatomy... I was terrified the tampon would travel up into my body. I had no idea...

Sounds stupid and funny but true.
