Part I

The four ladies of a certain age entered the posh Italian restaurant on Manhattan’s Upper Eastside.

Slow and regal they followed the waiter to a reserved private table.

They held their heads high & walked as erect as Queens… (in single file), each sported an elegant cane.

On their way, they passed a table of smiling millenniums.

One young fellow commented, “Why y’all are the most fine-lookin’ ladies, saluting us with a cavalier bow.

The women smiled back while one of them volunteered wryly, “If you knew us back when… you’d have added, that we were the sexist broads in the whole…”

W-hat???

This unexpected remark caused the youngsters to chuckle, it simultaneously caused the stone-faced waiter to crack a smile, as he was aware of their whispered colorful histories.

Their most prized table was against the mural tapestry of the forever sun-kissed Isle of Capri. This was for this landmarked icon eatery.

Once they were gently assisted into their seats, they nodded then their usual cocktails materialized…instantly.

With their cocktails in hand, they cheerfully toasted, "To us”, as they blew air-kisses to each other…sealing their camaraderie.

They laughed as their glasses rang with gusto!
