The colorful display of veggies and fruits say, “take me home & eat me”, (if you can afford to…) 😏

This brutally, freezing, tear-your-face-off winter morning, I walked to Angelo’s Food shop. It's a mini- market on next block.

It was so windy…so I wasn’t inclined to march a few icy streets to the Shoprite Supermarket.

I hit the vegetable — fruit area as I opened the door into Angelo’s.

B-but $$$ it looked like they’re joking… are those prices really telephone numbers, (& not the cost of its produce)? “An apple a day that keeps the doctor away” …is really all many can afford in Angelo’s. LOL!

Holy Harvest!

Angelo’s Meat Department beckoned me, next. I strolled over to window shop…only! Thirty-five dollars- 50lb. for a steak.

(Steak is in this neighborhood shop the same price as I wholesale-d an entire ensemble of a 2-piece ladies’ suit…jacket & skirt… just a few years ago).

Holy Cow!

To the fishmonger display case I go next.

Thirty -plus dollars-up to $55 for fish per pound. (We’re not talkin’ lobster nor caviar… my friends).

How did prices get so outa hand?

Holy Mackrel!

Say “Hello” to tofu, beans & veggies…with pasta, Dee-Dee. 😶

(Well, I guess it’ll force me to eat healthier). 🙄 I who really loved a good steak, lamb chop, brisket, veal cutlet or even calf’s liver smothered in sauteed onions. I was known as the Butcher’s daughter growing up in Brooklyn.

Now I’ll be the reluctant vegetarian.

LOL!
