Pure or Poison…

The curse…a mother’s milk poisoned her children…causing them lifetime shuttered in silence.

Once upon a time a mystery stewed and simmered through generations. An accusation of a crime…not understood. It is hard to believe but true as secreted to me.

To this loving couple, in the latter years of the 1800’s, disaster struck with the discovery that each of their beautiful children were mute. When the ignorant, bitter grandmother learned that her beloved grandbabies were afflicted, she blamed their handicap on her daughter in law’s breast milk. The babies were otherwise born perfect so that’s what it must be.

Crazed, she kidnapped the fourth baby, immediately away to her home. There torn from his mother’s arms, he was fed by another nursing mother.

As the family lore went…that was why he was the only child, in her son Aron & Anna’s family, who was NOT affected, with his sibling' same problem.

That mis information poison was passed thru the extended clan, until the truth came out via science, generations later.

What really caused that birth defect… the mother and father of the children were first cousins. They had loved each other and married when they each immigrated to America…from the old country.

So, the last child only received” the luck of the draw in the gene pool”.

Anna’s breast milk was not to blame… of course.

Alas what guilt the poor mother had needlessly suffered thru out her life.

P.S. All the offspring of Aron’s & Anna’s children were perfect…including me!
