I have pierced ears & I wear earrings.

When my girls were 3 & 5, I took them to a jewelry store in Hempstead, Long Island.

First my older daughter had hers done, then the younger one suddenly started to scream. She had found the secret burglary button behind the counter...and hit it.

Two policemen with guns drawn pushed open the store's front door thinking they were interrupting a hold-up.

It still takes my breath away as I recall that incident.

Yes, the little girl got her ears pierced, too.
